Examples of Dr. Mamoun’s work.
Five of his patients, each photographed before and after treatment. Every case carries Dr. Mamoun’s own account of what he found and what he did.
Case 1: Discolored front tooth
This patient had fallen on her front tooth and had been walking around for over two decades with a purplish discoloration of the tooth. Dr. Mamoun performed a root canal, then a “walking bleach” procedure, placing a high-concentration peroxide solution inside the tooth.
Case 2: Worn bridge rebuilt
This patient, a bruxer who would grind his teeth, had an old 3-unit bridge whose porcelain had cracked and chipped off, trapping food and irritating the gums. Dr. Mamoun remade the bridge with its chewing surface entirely in metal, so there is no brittle porcelain to grind off, and suggested a nightguard.
Case 3: Acid erosion protected
Acid reflux had dissolved the enamel on the backs of this patient’s upper front teeth, exposing the yellow dentin underneath. Dr. Mamoun placed composite restorations on the back sides of these teeth as a barrier against further acid reflux breakdown.
Case 4: Root canal for an infected tooth
An X-ray showed a dark round area at the end of a front tooth’s root, a typical sign of infection, and the patient had experienced pain and swelling. Dr. Mamoun performed a root canal that densely filled the entire canal to the end of the root, seen as the white line on the after X-ray.
Case 5: Front teeth recontoured
This patient felt her lower front teeth were too jagged, irregular and asymmetric, and wanted them smoothed out without braces. With 10 to 15 minutes of reshaping, and no anesthetic required, Dr. Mamoun rounded the pointed eye teeth and smoothed the jagged edges into a more even line.
