General, cosmetic and family dentistry
Sunbeam Dental offers check-ups, cleanings, bleaching, bonding, crowns, bridges, root canals, dentures, fillings, whitening treatments, extractions and emergency treatment. New patients and children are welcome, and weekend, early morning and evening hours are available.
Gentle treatments lessen dental anxiety, and loupes magnification or microscopes are used with all dental work. We use modern sterilization methods, with weekly sterilization monitoring under contract with the Baylor College of Dentistry, Texas.

Check-ups and cleanings
A check-up is a careful look at your teeth, gums and mouth, and a cleaning removes the plaque and hardened tartar that brushing and flossing at home leave behind. Regular visits mean a small problem, such as early decay or gum inflammation, can be found while it is still small.

Fillings and bonding
A filling rebuilds the part of a tooth that decay has damaged, once the decay has been removed. Bonding uses tooth-colored composite resin, shaped directly on the tooth and hardened with a curing light, to repair a chip, close a small gap or improve the shape of a tooth.

Crowns and bridges
A crown is a cap that covers a tooth that is cracked, weakened or heavily filled. A bridge replaces a missing tooth with a false tooth joined to crowns on the teeth on either side of the gap.

Root canals
Inside every tooth is soft pulp tissue. When it becomes inflamed or infected, root canal treatment removes it, cleans and shapes the canals inside the roots, and seals them. The aim is to keep your natural tooth, which is then protected with a filling or a crown.

Whitening
Whitening, also called bleaching, lightens the natural color of your teeth with a peroxide gel. It works on natural enamel, not on crowns or fillings, so it helps to know beforehand which of your teeth will change. Where a tooth is chipped or uneven rather than discolored, bonding may suit it better.

Dentures and extractions
A denture replaces missing teeth with a removable appliance: a full denture replaces a whole arch, and a partial denture fills the gaps between remaining teeth. An extraction removes a tooth that cannot be kept, such as a badly broken tooth or a wisdom tooth coming in at an angle.
Dr. Mamoun has published on extraction technique, including the use of high-magnification loupes or the surgical operating microscope when performing extractions.

Emergency care
Emergency treatment is part of the care we provide. If you have a toothache, swelling, or a broken or knocked-out tooth, call (732) 431-2888 first. Weekend, early morning and evening hours are available.

Magnified dentistry
Loupes magnification or microscopes are used with all dental work. Dr. Mamoun believes that dental work cannot be optimally performed without magnification. In addition, supplementary head-mounted lighting provides superior lighting compared to the standard overhead dental chair light.

Referrals to specialists
Some treatment is best done by a specialist, such as an orthodontist for braces, a periodontist for advanced gum disease or an oral surgeon for complex surgery.
