Emergency treatment is part of the general, cosmetic and family dentistry we provide at Sunbeam Dental. We are open Monday to Saturday from 8 AM to 8 PM and Sunday from 9 AM to 5 PM, or by appointment.
What counts as a dental emergency
A dental emergency is pain, swelling, bleeding or an injury that should not wait for a routine visit. Common examples are a severe or throbbing toothache, swelling of the face or gums, a tooth that has been knocked out or pushed out of place, a broken or cracked tooth, and a lost filling or crown that leaves a sharp or painful edge.
If swelling is spreading quickly, or you have a fever with facial swelling or any trouble breathing or swallowing, call 911 or go to the nearest hospital emergency room.
Before you arrive
Call us first at (732) 431-2888 so we know you are coming and can tell you what to do in the meantime.
If a tooth is knocked out, pick it up by the crown, not the root. Rinse it gently if it is dirty, without scrubbing, and keep it moist: back in its socket if you can, or in a small container of milk. Come in as quickly as possible.
If a tooth is broken, rinse your mouth with warm water and bring any pieces with you. For swelling, hold a cold compress against the outside of your cheek. Do not put aspirin or other painkillers directly on the gum, as they can burn the tissue.
Great dentist, I went a different dentist, and an endodontist because of pain in a tooth and they both saw nothing. Saw he took my insurance so I called and got an emergency visit where he found a major infection in my tooth and treated that day. Since then hes been my go to dentist for the rest of dental work. Highly recommend.
